Using Mindful Creativity with DBT and CBT Skills
Let’s face it, most of our clients tune out when presented with a CBT or DBT “wall of text”. Even if they’re interested, it’s hard for anyone to remember all the acronyms and workouts! This course, Spoonful of Sugar, is the answer for therapists who want to keep their clients engaged and excited about therapy by incorporating creativity and artmaking.
In this course, you’ll learn more about Mindful Creativity, a way of using creative arts in your therapy sessions, for both groups and individuals. Your clients will get better at learning and practicing CBT and DBT skills, all while enjoying the “sweetness” of having dedicated time to be creative. Best of all, they will have tangible and visual reminders of their work to rely on in a crisis.
Very few clients will go back over their written CBT and DBT work, even if they save every bit. By blending artmaking and therapy, your clients will naturally want to display and share many of the works they create. You’ll also learn why visuals are so important for clients to retain and access information, especially when they are triggered and need it the most!
You don't need to be an expert at CBT or DBT to get a lot out of this course. In fact, I am including a bonus video where I break down the key concepts of each type of therapy.
